About Basketball-the-Remix™ Basketball-the-Remix™ is about reconnecting urban youth with the rich athletic, professional and social legacy of African-American basketball. We seek to revitalize and perserve this rich black American experience through establishing black owned and operated franchises that promote Basketball-the-Remix™ around the world. African-American's have a basketball legacy predating the NBA by over 50 years. There have been African-American professional basketball players since 1902. Harry "Bucky" became the first African-American to play professional basketball when he played in the New England Basketball League in 1902, over hundred years ago. "To this day, I have not seen a team play better team basketball." This is a quote from legendary collegiate basketball coach John Wooden about the Harlem Renaissance. In 1932-33, The Rens won an amazing 112 games and only lost 8, including winning 88 consecutive games and beating the Original Celtics for the world basketball championship. The success of the Rens paved the way for another revolutionizing all black basketball team, the Harlem Globetrotters. The Heritage of black professional basketball is not only one of ownership, but also one of social impact. The Harlem Renaissance and the Harlem Globetrotters were instrumental in destroying social stereotypes, overcoming segregation and providing hope to millions of young boys and girls of all races.
